Innovative courses
I searched for innovative courses and came across this new requirement for Michigan students. It caught my interested me because I grew up in Detroit. It seems that Michigan Dept. of Education has decided to make a move toward integrating technology into every high school. According to the link below, Michigan has become the first state in the nation to requireeach student to take an online course or have an on-line learning experience before graduating.
With the help of Microsoft they offer a course called CareerForward through Blackboard free of charge. You can read more about this on the link below.

Below is a link to the actual CareerForward site. This program will according to the reading will not only help set all students in the direction of a career that fits their interests but also helps all students become knowledgeable with using on-line resources. Along with satisfying the requirement for graduation.

I’m not certain this is exactly what we were supposd to be looking for but it was interesting to me because they are requiring all students to learn about on-line resources. At this time most schools (in Kentucky) do offer on-line classes but mostly for AP or college credit. This leaves out the majority of the students. Usually only the honor students take those classes. I feel that this is a good move forward for many of Michigan’s students especially those who would not otherwise have access to on-line resources.

This is an interesting idea. Since our post-secondary education is changing to keep up with the times I think having high school students take an on-line course is a great idea.
